California State Route 58

California State Route 58 (SR 58) is a state highway in the U.S. state of California that runs east-west across the Coast Ranges, connecting the Central Coast to the Mojave Desert. Route Description

SR 58 begins at its western terminus in San Luis Obispo, where it intersects with US Route 101. From there, it heads east through the Los Padres National Forest, passing by the town of Santa Margarita and the Kern River County Park. As it enters Kern County, the highway traverses the Temblor Range and the Carrizo Plain, providing scenic views of the surrounding landscape. Further east, SR 58 intersects with Interstate 5 (I-5) near the town of Buttonwillow, before continuing on to the Mojave Desert.

Along its route, SR 58 intersects with several major highways, including US 101, I-5, and SR 33. The highway also passes by several notable destinations, such as the Carrizo Plain National Monument, the Kern National Wildlife Refuge, and the California Aqueduct.
