University Of California Los Angeles Softball

The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) softball team is one of the most successful and storied programs in the history of college softball. With a rich tradition of excellence, the Bruins have won a record 12 national championships, including 11 NCAA titles and one AIAW championship. History of UCLA Softball

The UCLA softball program was established in 1975, and from its inception, the team has been a force to be reckoned with. The Bruins won their first national championship in 1978, just three years after the program was established, and have since gone on to win 11 more NCAA titles. The team has been led by some of the greatest coaches in the history of softball, including Sharron Backus, who won five national championships, and Sue Enquist, who won 11 national championships during her 25-year tenure as head coach.

UCLA has produced some of the greatest players in the history of softball, including Jennie Finch, a two-time Olympic medalist and three-time NCAA champion, and Natasha Watley, a two-time Olympic medalist and four-time NCAA champion. The team has also been led by some of the greatest coaches in the sport, including Sue Enquist, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest softball coaches of all time. Enquist won 11 national championships during her 25-year tenure as head coach and was inducted into the National Softball Hall of Fame in 2006.
